Start with a simple timeline
Write down when and where the incident happened, who was involved and what happened afterward. Say when you are unsure rather than estimating facts as certain.
Keep existing information together
- Incident or report numbers.
- Photos and witness details you already have.
- Letters from insurers or other parties.
- Basic treatment dates and time missed from work.
Prepare your own questions
Ask who will work on the matter, how updates are provided, what experience is relevant and how fees and costs work. A first conversation is also your opportunity to assess the lawyer.
